HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Lynne Capener-CREST 2010 Proclamation - Word - 05.19.2010PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Lynne Capener; and WHEREAS, Lynne Capener is one of the winners for the Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken (CREST) Award, which recognizes individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the City of Cupertino; and WHEREAS, Lynne Capener is the volunteer chairperson of the City's Schools Disaster Preparedness Committee, which is made up of principals, staff and parent volunteers from Cupertino schools - both public and private; and WHEREAS, the group meets monthly to discuss preparedness topics related to school sites and have included earthquakes, communication, shooter on campus, student release, use of volunteers, incident command, first aid and search and rescue; and WHEREAS, Lynne has been chairing the committee, preparing the lessons and keeping the participants updated on upcoming topics and current trends for over five years; and WHEREAS, she is also actively working with Stevens Creek Elementary, Kennedy Middle and Monta Vista High to prepare plans and simulated earthquake drills; and WHEREAS, her passion for children and safety make her an invaluable asset to achieving Cupertino's vision of one hundred percent preparedness; and WHEREAS, Lynne is also a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) graduate and an active volunteer with Cupertino Amateur Radio Emergency Service (CARES). NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize Lynne Capener for her outstanding work, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
