WHEREAS, on Wednesday, June Ninth, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Lucille Honig; and
WHEREAS, Lucille started volunteering for the Cupertino-Toyokawa Sister City organization in Nineteen Eighty-Three when her daughter, Barbara, was in the first student delegation to
Toyokawa; and
WHEREAS, she has been President of the organization for many years and has acted as coordinator between the Cupertino Union School District, the City of Cupertino, and the sister city
organization to strengthen the student exchange home stay program; and
WHEREAS, she has hosted several adult delegates from Toyokawa, including Toyokawa Mayors; and
WHEREAS, she has been to Toyokawa three times, most recently with the thirtieth anniversary delegation; and
WHEREAS, Lucille has been involved for over ten years in the student interview process for the annual Cupertino student exchange home stay program; and
WHEREAS, she has also volunteered for many years in different capacities for the sister city organization including Chairperson of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Lucille Honig
for her outstanding work, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Wednesday, June Ninth, Two Thousand and Ten.
