WHEREAS, on Wednesday, August Twenty-Fifth, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Permanente Plant of the Lehigh Cement Company; and
WHEREAS, Lehigh’s Permanente Site is the winner of the Pacific Gas & Electric’s (PG&E) Golden Orb Award; and
WHEREAS, their site is receiving the award for the participation in the Base Interruptible Program (BIP); and
WHEREAS, the BIP pays an incentive to reduce a facility's load to or below a pre-selected level, which is called the Firm Service Level (FSL) and, when necessary, the facility eliminates
its electricity consumption, creating stability within the local grid and preventing brownouts in the community.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the
Permanente Plant of the Lehigh Cement Company
for their outstanding work, dedication, and valuable service to our community.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Wednesday, August Twenty-Fifth, Two Thousand and Ten.
