WHEREAS, on Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Isabel Rodriguez; and
WHEREAS, Isabel Rodriguez is one of the winners for the Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken (CREST) Award, which recognizes individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions
to the City of Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, Isabel had a major leadership role in the October Two Thousand and Nine Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) emergency preparedness drill and her self-motivated efforts
were mission critical to the success of the October drill; and
WHEREAS, Isabel logged over five hundred volunteer hours over a four month period where she focused on organization, documentation and block leader inclusion as the Planning Section
Chief in the drill; and
WHEREAS, the documentation process is comprised of multiple forms and is based upon running a command center without computers and electricity; and
WHEREAS, Isabel also helped with Block Leader coordination where she developed handout packets for sixty Block Leader volunteers; and
WHEREAS, realizing that there would be spontaneous volunteers during the drill that would come to the ARKs offering to distribute flyers, Isabel initiated a project to divide the City’s
six disaster zones into sub-zones or canvas maps; and
WHEREAS, Isabel is a year-around CERT volunteer working in a variety of areas, active in the Block Leader program, and a member of Cupertino Amateur Radio Emergency Service (CARES).
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Isabel Rodriguez
for her outstanding work, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten.
