WHEREAS, on Saturday, May Fifteenth, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra (FYCO) on the occasion of their 10th Anniversary
Concert; and
WHEREAS, FYCO is the only Chinese organization in the nation being awarded by Federal, State, and City government art agencies for many consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, they are the first Chinese orchestra invited by the Ministry of Culture of People’s Republic of China to visit China from the West; and
WHEREAS, they had four collaborations with Western orchestras, which included two youth, one adult, and one professional; and
WHEREAS, they also held multiple Chinese operatic performances onstage, performed live music in conjunction with Shaolin martial arts monks, and premiered new performing works in every
annual concert; and
WHEREAS, they have been featured in many newspapers and magazines, and have been reported and interviewed by television stations more than thirty times.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra
for their outstanding work, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, May Fifteenth, Two Thousand and Ten.
