WHEREAS, on Saturday, June Twelfth, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Eleanor J. Watanabe; and
WHEREAS, Eleanor J. Watanabe is retiring from the Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation (CEEF), a non-profit corporation that provides funds and encourages community support for
educational programs in the Cupertino Union School District; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Watanabe has played an active leadership role over the past two decades in support of educational programs in our community, serving as president of the De Anza College
Commission, member of the executive committees of the Foothill-DeAnza Community Colleges Foundation and Junior League of Palo Alto, board member of Euphrat Museum of Art, and Advisory
Board member of the Museum of American Heritage; and
WHEREAS, during her two terms as a member of the Camino Healthcare Foundation Board of Trustees, she led community outreach efforts to achieve a better understanding of community health
care needs; and
WHEREAS, as a two-term member of the Hidden Villa Board of Trustees, she served on the Executive Committee, Strategic Planning Steering Committee, and chaired the Frank and Josephine
Duveneck Humanitarian Awards Dinner benefit for two years; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Watanabe served as president of Cupertino Rotary during the 2002-2003 year and one of the highlights of her year included leading a delegation of twenty-five Rotarians
on a humanitarian project to Santiago, Chile.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Eleanor J. Watanabe
for her outstanding work, the breadth of which, has only been superseded by the profound changes for the better that she has made possible.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, June Twelfth, Two Thousand and Ten.
