WHEREAS, on Sunday, June Thirteenth, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the De Anza College Spring Choral Concert; and
WHEREAS, De Anza College serves over twenty-five thousand students in the south bay area and consistently ranks near the very top of the one hundred and nine campus community college
system; and
WHEREAS, the Creative Arts Division is home to the music department, along with art, dance, theatre, film/TV, photography and the Euphrat Museum; and
WHEREAS, the music department prides itself on offering introduction to music courses, courses in theory and musicianship, electronic music, jazz, all of the instruments and voice, world
music, and performing ensembles, both instrumental and vocal; and
WHEREAS, the choral ensembles at De Anza College range from traditional to contemporary and include groups, such as Vintage Singers, Chorale, Vocal Jazz, Women's Ensemble and Early Music;
and
WHEREAS, a variety of genres will be explored at the De Anza College Spring Choral Concert, including folk songs, spirituals, popular songs arranged in close harmony, and great choruses
from the opera and the theatre.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the
De Anza College Spring Choral Concert
and thank De Anza College for their outstanding work, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Sunday, June Thirteenth, Two Thousand and Ten.
