WHEREAS, on Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize David Wong; and
WHEREAS, David Wong is one of the winners for the Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken (CREST) Award, which recognizes individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions
to the City of Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, David has been on the West Valley Community Services (WVCS) Board of Directors for the past two years where he has been an advocate for low income families in the West Valley
Region; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Faith in Action committee, David helps various faith based organizations plan and carry out the WVCS Rotating Shelter Program, a seventeen year old program
that provides room and board to approximately one hundred homeless men annually; and
WHEREAS, David also serves on the Fund Development Committee, where he helps carry out several fundraising efforts throughout the year, and on the Finance Committee where he offers insight
as to the best ways in which to spend funds within the organization; and
WHEREAS, David talks to various organizations about the important work being done at WVCS and has found countless volunteers, donors, and even board members for the organization; and
WHEREAS, over the last year, some of the most inspired and hardworking volunteers in the organization have come to the agency because of interactions they have had with David.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
David Wong
for his outstanding work, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten.
