HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Cristin Vaughan-Performed CPR Proclamation - Word - 04.05.2010PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Tuesday, April Sixth, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Cristin Vaughan; and WHEREAS, on November Eleventh, Two Thousand and Nine, Cristin was at the scene of a tragic collision between an automobile and a bicyclists on Stevens Creek Boulevard; and WHEREAS, Cristin was one of many witnesses who saw Mr. Wanju Yu, a Senior Center member, get struck by a vehicle while riding his bike to the Senior Center, but she was among the elite few to act without hesitation; and WHEREAS, Cristin immediately signaled for another witness to call for help as she went to assist Mr. Yu, rendering first aid and performing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); and WHEREAS, unfortunately, Mr. Yu’s injuries were too severe and he could not be saved, but because of Cristin’s actions, Mr. Yu’s family can take solace in the fact that the efforts to save his life were immediate and without pause. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize Cristin Vaughan for her outstanding willingness to come to the aid of another and her readiness to respond by being trained in CPR. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, April Sixth, Two Thousand and Ten. ________________________ Kris Wang, Mayor
