WHEREAS, on Tuesday, October Fifth, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize California Arts Day; and
WHEREAS, California Arts Day is on the first Friday of October every year and corresponds to National Arts & Humanities Month (NAHM), which is a coast-to-coast collective celebration
of culture in America; and
WHEREAS, the Arts have tremendous educational value, community value, economic value, and the uniquely American value of the pursuit of happiness; and
WHEREAS, industries and businesses locate themselves in communities that are the centers of creativity, and California has more than twice as many arts-related jobs than any other state;
and
WHEREAS, children learn critical-thinking skills and improve focus when provided a solid foundation in the Arts; and
WHEREAS, Public Art projects are elements of civic pride and help define and formulate responses to social, economic and cultural issues faced by citizens.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize
California Arts Day
in Cupertino and call upon our citizens to celebrate and promote the arts and culture in our nation.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, October Fifth, Two Thousand and Ten.
