HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Autumn Ikebana Flower Show Proclamation - Word - 10.06.2010PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Saturday, October Twenty-Third, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Autumn Ikebana Flower Show; and WHEREAS, nearly one hundred and sixty ikebana floral artists will present a two-day weekend exhibition to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the local chapter’s establishment; and WHEREAS, visitors will enjoy a wide variety of floral arrangement styles, such as those created in low shallow vases, in tall upright vases, as well as suspended and wall-hung styles, and large-scale floor arrangements; and WHEREAS, highly accomplished Wafu ikebana artists will also present demonstrations of this exquisite art form, discussing the materials and techniques used; and WHEREAS, the event is co-sponsored by the Fremont Union High School District, the Wafu Ikebana Society, and the City; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Fusako “Seiga” Hoyrup founded the chapter in Nineteen Seventy One and under her direction and training, the California chapter has grown from a handful of eager students to nearly two hundred dedicated and artistically accomplished members. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the Autumn Ikebana Flower Show and thank the organization for creating a better community through its active participation and charitable contributions to the people and City of Cupertino. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, October Twenty-Third, Two Thousand and Ten. ________________________ Kris Wang, Mayor
