WHEREAS, on Tuesday, March Second, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Anthony J. Sun for being one of the chosen candidates for the 2010 Presidential Scholars
Program; and
WHEREAS, there were more than three thousand candidates and they were selected from nearly three point two million students expected to graduate from U.S. high schools in the year Two
Thousand and Ten; and
WHEREAS, inclusion in the Presidential Scholars Program, now in its forty-sixth year, is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors; and
WHEREAS, scholars are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities;
and
WHEREAS, the three thousand candidates were selected for their exceptional performance on either the College Board SAT or the ACT Assessment; and
WHEREAS, further consideration is based on students’ essays, self-assessments, descriptions of activities, school recommendations, and school transcripts; and
WHEREAS, the Commission on Presidential Scholars will make a final selection of the Scholars and will select one young man and young woman from each state.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Anthony J. Sun
for his hard work and dedication, and wish him much success in all future endeavors.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, March Second, Two Thousand and Ten.
