WHEREAS, on Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Andy Huang; and
WHEREAS, Andy Huang is one of the winners for the Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken (CREST) Award, which recognizes individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions
to the City of Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, Andy had a major leadership role in the October Two Thousand and Nine Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) emergency preparedness drill and his self-motivated efforts were
mission critical to the success of the October drill; and
WHEREAS, he logged over five hundred volunteer hours over a four month period; and
WHEREAS, Andy aggressively courted various media outlets to carry stories about Cupertino’s citywide emergency preparedness drill; and
WHEREAS, Andy had developed a flyer distribution plan that had each Boy and Girl Scout Troop assigned to a particular neighborhood or store on a certain shift and the combined efforts
of all Scouts were a distribution of four thousand six hundred eleven flyers, representing sixty percent of total flyers passed out that weekend; and
WHEREAS, he enlisted high school volunteers and volunteers from adult organizations, such as Rotary, Ho Chi Institute and the Tzu Chi Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Andy is also active in the Block Leader program and a member of Cupertino Amateur Radio Emergency Service (CARES).
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Andy Huang
for his outstanding work, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten.
