WHEREAS, on Tuesday, December Twenty-First, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Andrew Yoon; and
WHEREAS, on August Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten, Cupertino High School students, Andrew Yoon and Tobias Chisup Shin, were spending a Saturday afternoon at Tobias’ townhouse residence
where they spotted several twenty dollar bills and a white Halloween costume mask on the ground; and
WHEREAS, Andrew and Tobias collected the money and went door to door in an attempt to locate the owner of the lost funds and after failing to find the owners, they contacted the managers
of the complex home owners association to further their efforts in finding the owner of the lost money; and
WHEREAS, Andrew and Tobias did not know that a robbery had just taken place at the nearby Bank of America, but upon seeing the police activity, they brought the one hundred and eighty
dollars of recovered money to deputies at the bank and directed detectives to the white mask; and
WHEREAS, subsequent investigation has shown that the suspects fled through the townhouse complex after committing the robbery and during their flight, the suspects inadvertently dropped
some of the stolen money and one of the white masks that they used to conceal their appearance; and
WHEREAS, in addition, they directed investigators to a crucial piece of evidence that ultimately contained both fingerprints and DNA profiles of the potential suspects.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Andrew Yoon
for showing great moral character with his efforts to return the found money to the rightful owner and bringing light to this dark event with his honesty, integrity and character.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, December Twenty-First, Two Thousand and Ten.
