WHEREAS, on Wednesday, October Fifth, Two Thousand and Eleven, the City of
Cupertino wishes to recognize Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) on the
occasion of their celebration of the 100th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan);
and
WHEREAS, the Republic of China has undergone momentous transformations since its
founding nearly a century ago in Nineteen Twelve, which brought to an end China's
millennia -old tradition of feudal monarchy and launched the monumental mission of
forging a just and prosperous society able to meet the challenges of the modem world;
and
WHEREAS, in the first half of the 201h century, the ROC struggled to cope with internal
instability and external aggression; and
WHEREAS, since the relocation of the ROC government in Nineteen Forty -Nine from the
Chinese mainland to Taiwan, the ROC has matured into a free-market, multiparty
democracy that plays key roles in the global economy and in maintaining regional peace
and stability; and
WHEREAS, TECO represents the interests of the people and government of the Republic
of China (Taiwan) in North California, Utah and Nevada.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby
commend and recognize
Taipei Economic and Cultural
Office (TECO)
for their outstanding work, dedication, and hope that the friendship between Taiwan and
California will become even stronger in every aspect.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Wednesday, October Fifth, Two Thousand and Eleven.
