HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Target-National Night Out 2011 Proclamation - Word - 08.23.2011PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Tuesday, September Sixth, Two Thousand and Eleven, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Target for their participation in National Night Out on August Second, Two Thousand and Eleven; and WHEREAS, National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners; and WHEREAS, the goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and most importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back; and WHEREAS, while representing Target, Mr. Eric Linden, Executive Team Leader - Assets Protection, drove around the City of Cupertino on National Night Out to deliver cases of water, granola bars, wrist bands, and sidewalk chalk to our neighborhood watch groups who were participating in National Night Out; and WHEREAS, the items were very well received and the participants sincerely appreciated the support from Mr. Linden and Target; and WHEREAS, Target has a proud history of partnership with local law enforcement agencies through its Target & BLUE program; and WHEREAS, as part of this commitment to create safer and healthier communities, Target partners with the National Association of Town Watch to sponsor National Night Out. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize Target for their outstanding service, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, September Sixth, Two Thousand and Eleven. ________________________ Gilbert Wong, Mayor
