WHEREAS, on Sunday, September Eighteenth, Two Thousand and Eleven, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Kumon Annual Awards Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, the ceremony will be honoring students whose hard work has helped them to learn above-grade-level material, winners from their Summer Reading Challenge, as well as students
with other significant accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Kumon is an afterschool math and reading program that employs a unique learning method designed to help each child develop the skills needed to perform to his or her full potential;
and
WHEREAS, it is also the largest and most established afterschool program of its kind in the world; and
WHEREAS, Kumon empowers students to reach their full potential by helping them to master, step by step, the skills and knowledge they need for success in higher level math and reading
comprehension; and
WHEREAS, through individualized programs and repeated practice, Kumon students learn independent learning and how to solve problems with both speed and accuracy.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the
Kumon Annual Awards Ceremony
and thank Kumon for all their hard work, dedication, and creating a stronger community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Sunday, September Eighteenth, Two Thousand and Eleven.
