WHEREAS, on Saturday, September Seventeenth, Two Thousand and Eleven, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Hindu American Foundation (HAF)'s Annual Northern California Awareness
and Fundraising Dinner; and
WHEREAS, HAF is an advocacy group providing a progressive Hindu American voice that interacts with and educates leaders in public policy, academia, media, and the public at large about
Hinduism and global issues concerning Hindus, such as religious liberty, the misportrayal of Hinduism, hate speech, hate crimes, and human rights; and
WHEREAS, by promoting the Hindu and American ideals of understanding, tolerance and pluralism, HAF stands firmly against hate, discrimination, defamation and terror; and
WHEREAS, in Two Thousand and Nine, HAF won the Hindu Renaissance Award from Hinduism Today magazine for outstanding Hindu organization of the year.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize the
Hindu American Foundation
on the occasion of their Annual Northern California Awareness and Fundraising Dinner and thank HAF for creating a better community for the children, the families and the people of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, September Seventeenth, Two Thousand and Eleven.
