HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Celebration of Republic of China & 10th Ann Proclamation - Word - 01.20.2011PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Sunday, January Twenty-Third, Two Thousand and Eleven, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Centenary Celebration of the Republic of China and the 10th anniversary Tea Ceremony of the American Tea Culture Association (ATCA); and WHEREAS, the Republic of China was established in Nineteen Eleven, replacing the Qing Dynasty and ending over two thousand years of imperial rule in China; and WHEREAS, the Republic of China is the oldest surviving republic in East Asia; and WHEREAS, established in Two Thousand and Two in Cupertino, California, American Tea Culture Association, a non-profit organization, was founded by tea masters George and Janice Lin along with other passionate tea lovers; and WHEREAS, ATCA members gather on a regular basis to discuss and explore Chinese tea culture and the history of tea development along with practicing different ways of brewing and tasting tea. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the Centenary Celebration of the Republic of China and the 10th Anniversary Tea Ceremony of the American Tea Culture Association and commend them for their hard work in encouraging the flowering of tea culture in North America through appreciation of the gracious tea ceremony. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Sunday, January Twenty-Third, Two Thousand and Eleven. ________________________ Gilbert Wong, Mayor
