WHEREAS, on Saturday, February Twelfth, Two Thousand and Eleven, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Chinese Institute of Engineers/USA-San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (CIE/USA-SF)
2011 Annual Conference; and
WHEREAS, CIE/USA is a non-profit, non-political organization with the purpose of serving the local engineering community; and
WHEREAS, founded in Nineteen Seventeen, CIE/USA is one of the oldest and the most prestigious Chinese-American engineering associations in the U.S. with seven chapters in the U.S. including
the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter; and
WHEREAS, CIE/USA also co-hosts three biannual engineering seminars in Taipei, Beijing, and Hong Kong with governments at each locality; and
WHEREAS, the theme of the conference is “Upcoming Opportunities for Asian Americans” and there will be three parallel seminars including “emerging technology,” “business perspectives,”
and “humanities and social science”.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the
CIE/USA-SF 2011 Annual Conference
and commend them for their outstanding work in promoting communication and the interchange of information among engineers and scientists in the various fields of engineering science
who are interested in the well-being of the Chinese engineering community in the U.S. and abroad.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, February Twelfth, Two Thousand and Eleven.
