PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, India is the world's largest democracy and shares with the United States the system in which the supreme power to govern is vested in the people; and
WHEREAS, the people of India drew upon the values of the rule of law in creating a representative democracy which was established on January 26, 1948; and
WHEREAS, it is the great honor of the City of Cupertino to recognize the mutual democratic values shared with the people and community of Bhubaneswar; and
WHEREAS, Bhubaneswar and Cupertino have thrived as major participants in the global economy; and
WHEREAS, Indo-Americans are active participants in the vitality of Cupertino and Silicon Valley and have forged close bonds between our communities and peoples.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Mayor Gilbert Wong, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby acknowledge the
City of Bhubaneswar
in recognition of a spirit of accord, and the people and the cultural wealth that has been shared with the people and City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Friday, February 22, Two Thousand and Eleven.
