HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 19th Festival of India and Parade Proclamation - Word - 08.09.2011PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Sunday, August Fourteenth, Two Thousand and Eleven, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the 19th Festival of India and Parade; and WHEREAS, the festival seeks to promote unity in diversity, democracy and to build bridges between the various global communities; and WHEREAS, the Festival of India showcases Indian culture and heritage not only to the Indo-American community, but also to the global Northern California community; and WHEREAS, the fair features over one hundred and twenty booths depicting arts and crafts, literature, clothing and jewelry, ethnic food, businesses and other resources; and WHEREAS, at the very comprehensive Health Fair, over one hundred physicians and other professionals provide free testing and advice; and WHEREAS, The Federation of Indian Associations of Northern California is a strong and effective voice for Americans of Indian origin in the cultural, social, political, academic and economic fields and it is an umbrella organization of over fifty Bay Area organizations representing over one hundred thousand Indians in America. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the 19th Festival of India and Parade and thank everyone for their participation in this wonderful event and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Sunday, August Fourteenth, Two Thousand and Eleven. ________________________ Gilbert Wong, Mayor
