HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 BATA Proclamation - Word - 04.04.2012PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Saturday, April Seventh, Two Thousand and Twelve, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA); and WHEREAS, BATA is a non-profit organization formed in 1971, and is one of the biggest Indo-American organizations in the Bay Area; and WHEREAS, BATA is devoted to the awareness, sharing and promotion of Telugu culture in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, by celebrating various Telugu festivals annually, conducting fund raising tournaments for cricket and volleyball with proceeds going to various deserving non-profit organizations and encouraging participation of kids, youth and adults; and WHEREAS, BATA is celebrating the significant milestone of its 40th anniversary, paying tribute to the community for being part of its long journey of four decades in cultural and community service; and NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize the Bay Area Telugu Association for its outstanding contribution to promote culture, community and international understanding and for encouraging all Cupertino and Bay Area residents to participate in this grand celebration. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, April Seventh, Two Thousand and Twelve. ________________________ Mark Santoro, Mayor
