WHEREAS, located in the Nantou Province of Taiwan in the foothills of Jade Mountain and founded in 2008, Vox Nativa is a nonprofit special weekend music school for children nine to thirteen
years old; and
WHEREAS, Vox Nativa strives to achieve social reform within the indigenous populations and communities in Taiwan through cultivation of gifted children and to preserve and promote culture,
pride and identity through this choir group; and
WHEREAS, despite living in rough economic communities the children’s caliber of talent, tireless hard work and dedication have earned them critical acclaim as well as domestic musical
awards such as Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards; and
WHEREAS, Vox Nativa offers supplemental academic classes for top students around XinYi Township of Jade Mountain, and encourages these children to believe they can get into college,
pursue their dreams while staying committed to their communities and becoming future leaders of indigenous people; and
WHEREAS, talented Vox Nativa was invited to perform in Expo 2012 held in Shanghai, China and have competed in Hong Kong and Thailand winning various awards; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments that the students of Vox Nativa have achieved shows that combining music and education leads to more confident and successful people.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Vox Nativa
for the talent and perseverance of the children’s choir and their outstanding service in creating better and brighter communities throughout the world.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, July Sixth, Two Thousand and Thirteen.
