WHEREAS, Village Harvest is a nonprofit volunteer organization in Northern California that brings together neighbors and community organizations to provide food for the hungry, preserve
our agricultural heritage and skills, and promote sustainable use of urban resources; and
WHEREAS, Village Harvest is nationally recognized for their Harvesting for the Hungry (H4H) program, which harvested over 202,000 lbs. of fruit from local backyards and small orchards,
providing advice on fruit tree care and food preservation from home grown fruit; and
WHEREAS, this organization used volunteers on April 13, 2013 to pick fruit at the Stocklmeir Orchard, resulting in 924 pounds of oranges and 88 pounds of lemons going to our local food
pantry-enough to feed over 500 people.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby honor and recognize,
Village Harvest
and thank the volunteers for their time and efforts in bringing together neighbors and community organizations to provide food for the hungry.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, May Seventh, Two Thousand and Thirteen.
