HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Shin Shin 2013 Proclamation - Word - 11.26.2013PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Saturday, December Fourteenth, Two Thousand and Thirteen, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Shin Shin Educational Foundation on the occasion of their 2013 Annual Appreciation and Fundraising event; and WHEREAS, the Shin Shin Educational Foundation (SSEF) provides funds, resources, services and long term care to help China construct or renovate schools in remote, poor rural areas in order to enable students to enjoy a better school environment, and improve the quality of education between metropolitan and rural areas in China; and WHEREAS, the Shin Shin Educational Foundation has participated in the construction and repair of 336 primary schools over the past 16 years; and WHEREAS, after years of hard work and development, Shin Shin has established a good reputation and continued making positive impacts with its hundreds of volunteers and thousands of donors, among them celebrities in politics and businesses, well known community leaders, and successful professionals in high-tech industries; and WHEREAS, “Shin Shin” means prosperous and is named after an old Chinese motto: “A group effort will bring prosperity” which is why every year Shin Shin volunteers both local and abroad travel from far away to visit these children and help them understand what it means to be cared for with love and support; and NOW, therefore, the City of Cupertino wishes to commend the Shin Shin Educational Foundation for their outstanding work and to join in the celebration of their 2013 Annual Appreciation and Fundraising event and thank the Shin Shin Educational Foundation and all their volunteers and supporters for their hard work and dedication to this organization and in putting together this wonderful event.
