WHEREAS, on December Sixth, Two Thousand and Thirteen, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Santa Clara County Library District, upon the opening of their new Service and Support
Center; and
WHEREAS, established in 1914, the Santa Clara County Library District has been ranked as one of America's top 100 libraries for the past decade; and
WHEREAS, the SCC Library District is an open forum promoting knowledge, ideas and cultural enrichment; and
WHEREAS, the library provides free access to informational, educational, and recreational materials and services; and
WHEREAS, the library promotes the love of books and the importance of reading with seven Community Libraries, one branch Library, two bookmobiles and an Online Library; and
WHEREAS, with a multitude of informative and exciting programs for adults, teens and children, the library fosters life-long learning, cultural enrichment and supports education.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby congratulate the
Santa Clara County Library District
on its new location and for its civic dedication and the creation of a more informed and healthier community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, December Sixth, Two Thousand and Thirteen.
