WHEREAS, on June Fourth, Two Thousand and Thirteen the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Tanay Tandon; and
WHEREAS, Tanay is a sophomore at Cupertino High School and competed in the 51st National Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (JSHS), held May 1-5, 2013, in Dayton, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, there he won 1st Place in the category of Mathematics & Computer Science for his project titled Clipped: Automated Text Summarization through Unsupervised Semantic Natural Language
Processing and Clustered Machine Learning Algorithms; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force sponsored the Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (JSHS), and awarded Tanay a remarkable $12,000 scholarship; and
WHEREAS, the Junior Science and Humanities Symposia (JSHS) Program promotes original research and experimentation in the sciences, engineering, and mathematics at the high school level
and publicly recognizes students for outstanding achievement.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Tanay Tandon
for his outstanding work and dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, June Fourth, Two Thousand and Thirteen.
