PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize The De Anza Optimist Club of Cupertino and their volunteers who have demonstrated their commitment and enthusiasm to the community;
and
WHEREAS, they have dedicated the last twenty years to pancake flipping and joyous holiday spirit at Cupertino’s annual Breakfast with Santa event; and
WHEREAS, this annual event began in 1992, and each year the men and women of the club arrive at dawn to begin cooking pancakes and sausage for approximately Two Hundred and Fifty participants;
and
WHEREAS, the club organizes the buffet, serves the meal and coordinates the clean-up, while directing high school volunteers to assist with their efforts;
WHEREAS, most importantly, the club members show up every year with smiles on their faces and adorned with Santa hats and accessories to provide the participants with a magical holiday
experience.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby extend our heartfelt appreciation to
The De Anza Optimist Club of Cupertino
for all their contributions and hard work they put in every year to make the Cupertino Breakfast with Santa event a memorable and successful event for the people of our community.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, December Third, Two Thousand and Thirteen.
