HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 CLIPCO Spring Banquet Proclamation - Word - 05.28.2013PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Cupertino Language Immersion Program Community Organization (CLIPCO) students at Meyerholz Elementary School and Miller Middle School on the occasion of its Spring Banquet celebration; and WHEREAS, this Spring Banquet celebrates the commitment and dedication that the 5th grade students of Meyerholz Elementary and 8th grade students of Miller Middle School have put into learning Mandarin; and WHEREAS, this festivity will showcase performances of singing and dancing by the bilingual and bi-literate students; and WHEREAS, since 1998, the Cupertino Language Immersion Program has offered students a unique educational opportunity centered on dual language proficiency and bi-literacy development; and WHEREAS, immersion education is an exciting and innovative program in which children learn to speak, read, and write in English and Mandarin creating a stimulating educational environment leading to intellectual depth and flexibility; and WHEREAS, through CLIPCO’s two-way immersion program students prepare to live and compete in a global and culturally diverse work place. NOW, therefore, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize the Cupertino Language Immersion Program in recognition and appreciation of its important and valuable service providing educational excellence and innovation for the children and families of our city and community.
