WHEREAS, the San Francisco Bay Area Office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA) is celebrating 20 years of service on November Eighth, Two Thousand and Fourteen;
and
WHEREAS, CAIR has over 30 offices and is the largest American Muslim civil rights organization in the country, including approximately 250,000 Muslims living in the Greater Bay Area;
and
WHEREAS, the CAIR-SFBA Annual Banquet is one of the largest annual gatherings of American Muslims in the Bay Area; and
WHEREAS, the CAIR-SFBA Annual Banquet is expected to attract over 900 attendees and representatives from more than 30 Islamic Centers across the Bay Area; and
WHEREAS, the CAIR-SFBA Annual Banquet provides a great opportunity to connect with this vibrant community and provide support for the important civil rights work CAIR does across the
country.
NOW, therefore be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino do hereby commend and recognize
CAIR-SFBA
for 20 years of service through civil rights work promoting justice and the empowerment of American Muslims in the Cupertino Community
and across the country.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, November Eighth, Two-Thousand and Fourteen.
