WHEREAS, Cupertino is proud to join with our fellow citizens of Indian heritage throughout the Bay Area region as they commemorate the 65th anniversary of India’s independence with the
celebration of the 8th Annual India Republic Day in the City of Fremont at Lake Elizabeth Park on January Twenty-Fifth, Two Thousand and Fourteen; and
WHEREAS, it was in 1947 that India proclaimed independence, marking the beginning of its identity as a free and sovereign nation of people and, as a growing democracy; and
WHEREAS, India has proven to be a courageous nation, seeking to establish as its basic, fundamental principles those same values upon which the United States was founded – freedom, opportunity
and justice; and
WHEREAS, the celebration of India Republic Day fosters appreciation for this ancient culture among today’s generation of youth with familial roots that trace back to India; and
WHEREAS, this State welcomes the opportunity to be the site of important events which promote a greater understanding of various cultures of the world and this festive occasion provides
an excellent means by which people in the Bay Area of all backgrounds can experience many aspects of the vibrant Indian heritage, and we join to recognize the contributions made by
the country and people of India and extend our best wishes to them on commemorating this historic milestone of celebration of India Republic day; and
WHEREAS, Ajay Jain Bhutoria has been organizing events for kids and youth to promote confidence, self esteem, creativity, leadership, communication and entrepreneurship skills, among
kids and youth in the Bay Area.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Ajay Jain Bhutoria
for organizing the celebration of the 8th India Republic Day with programs for kids and youth to promote Indian culture, heritage and good values among the younger generation.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, January Twenty-Fifth, Two Thousand and Fourteen.
