WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the longevity and accomplishments of Elsie Monson on the occasion of the celebration of her one hundredth birthday with family and
friends, and
WHEREAS, born and raised in San Francisco as the youngest of eight siblings, Elsie Monson later moved to Mountain View where she and her husband, Reinhart, opened Monson’s Drugs on El
Camino Real and Castro in Mountain View; and
WHEREAS, Elsie Monson’s energy and vitality has been exemplified by playing tennis several times a week until almost ninety years old and driving until the age of ninety-nine; and
WHEREAS, Elsie Monson’s outstanding commitment to others is demonstrated by her participation and volunteer efforts in her community through the Mountain View Quota Club and the Presbyterian
Church of Mountain View.
NOW, therefore be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Elsie Monson
for her accomplishments as a mother, grandmother, and a friend, and for the profound and positive example she has made for the community and people of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, September Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Fourteen.
