HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Wafu School of Ikebana 45th AnniversaryPROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Saturday, October Twenty-fourth, Two Thousand and Fifteen, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Wafu School of Ikebana and its exquisite art form that invokes a sense of peace and beauty to the viewer; and WHEREAS, this marks the 45th Anniversary for the California Chapter of the Wafu School of Ikebana; and WHEREAS, in celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the California Chapter, a delegation of well-known artists from Japan’s Wafu Ikebana School headquarters in Tokyo will be in attendance and participating in this year’s flower show exhibition; and WHEREAS, nearly one hundred and twenty artists will be presenting their art during the flower show and highly accomplished Wafu ikebana artists will be presenting demonstrations of this eloquent art form, discussing materials and techniques being used; and WHEREAS, the founding for this chapter was in 1971 by Mrs. Fusako “Seiga” Hoyrup of Cupertino and under her direction and training, the California chapter has grown from a small group of students to nearly 170 dedicated and artistically accomplished members. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the Wafu School of Ikebana in celebration of its 45th Anniversary and recognize the dedicated teachers who instruct the next generation of students in the art of ikebana to preserve this highly artistic art form. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, October Twenty-fourth, Two Thousand and Fifteen. ________________________ Rod Sinks, Mayor
