HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 WVCS volunteer appreciation day 2015PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, West Valley Community Services, a basic needs nonprofit providing food, shelter, and financial assistance to the cities of Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, and West San Jose, holds its annual Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony on April Twenty-Second, Two Thousand and Fifteen; and WHEREAS, volunteers are at the core of inspiring, equipping and mobilizing meaningful change and service in our community; and WHEREAS, with seven hundred and thirty-six volunteers helping serve over seven thousand nine hundred fifty-four individuals in need annually in our community, this event honors all those who selflessly commit their time, energy, and passion to WVCS and its clients; and WHEREAS, this year volunteers generously donated over Eighteen Thousand hours of their time to provide lifeline services to the many individuals in need in our community; and WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino wishes to thank West Valley Community Services for its contributions to our community and recognize the volunteers who help it fulfill its mission. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend, recognize, and declare this April Sixteenth to be Volunteer Appreciation Day and recognize the significant accomplishments of West Valley Community Services and its volunteers. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Wednesday, April Twenty-Second, Two Thousand and Fifteen. __________________________________ Rod Sinks, Mayor
