WHEREAS, on Saturday, March Twenty-Eighth, Two Thousand and Fifteen, the Cupertino
Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual STAR Awards at a gala banquet at the Cypress
Hotel; and
WHEREAS, based on achievements and contributions in areas such as civic and community
service, education, and governmental affairs, nominees are recognized for significant service,
teamwork and achievements in the community; and
WHEREAS, the STAR Award recipient for Large Business of the Year is the Santa Clara
County Sheriff’s Office; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office was established in 1850 and provides law
enforcement services for within 1,300 square miles of Santa Clara County; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office has provided law enforcement services to the City of
Cupertino in the West Valley Division since Cupertino’s incorporation in 1955; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing progressive law enforcement
services and maintaining healthy community partnerships; and
WHEREAS, the West Valley Division offers other professional and customized services to
meet the needs of our diverse community, including Child Fingerprinting, Property ID, Teen
Academy, Child Safety Seat Inspections, Vacation Patrol Checks and Home Security
Inspections; and
WHEREAS, employees volunteer their time to raise money for the Special Olympics, Valley
Medical Center Pediatrics and several other non-profit organizations for the benefit of the
community at large.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby
commend and recognize the
Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office
for creating a stronger community for the people, businesses, and City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, March Twenty-Eighth, Two Thousand and Fifteen.
