WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino sent its Hsinchu Sister City Association Board
Members and Student Delegation to Hsinchu, Taiwan from April 12th to
19th, 2015; and
WHEREAS, this visit celebrated the 17th anniversary of the Cupertino -Hsinchu Sister
City relationship and the 11th anniversary of the successful student
exchange program; and
WHEREAS, the sister city relationship between Cupertino and Hsinchu dates back to
1998 when Cupertino Mayor Michael Chang visited Hsinchu to sign the
intent of sister city agreement; and
WHEREAS, three mayors of Cupertino, Mayors Patrick Kwok, Mark Santoro, Gilbert
Wong, and their delegations have visited Hsinchu since 1995; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino is excited to continue its sister city relationship with
Hsinchu to promote our culture, history, education and business through
mutual friendship and understanding under the leadership of Mayor Lin,
Chih-Chien.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby
commend and recognize the continuation of its Sister City relationship with

with the greatest hopes for continued friendship.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Monday, April Thirteenth, Two Thousand and Fifteen.
