WHEREAS, on April Thirtieth, Two Thousand and Fifteen, while walking in her
neighborhood, Gail Bower noticed suspicious activity; and
WHEREAS, she observed a youth in the neighbor’s yard, and watched as a second subject
jumped over the fence and described their expressions as looking excited “like they were
on a mission”; and
WHEREAS, she then heard glass break and noticed a black car parked on the street in
front of the house with the engine idling and headlights off, and upon hearing glass
breaking a second time, she ran back to her home and called the Sheriff’s Office; and
WHEREAS, due to her quick reporting of the suspicious subjects and vehicle, Santa Clara
County Sheriff’s deputies arrived within minutes and established a perimeter around the
home, where they observed that the lights in the home were off, but could see the subjects
walking inside the home with flashlights; and
WHEREAS, thanks to Gail for immediately reporting this suspicious activity, the two
suspects inside the home and one suspect in the car were arrested, which prevented them
from committing additional crimes in this rash of burglaries.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby
recognize Gail Bower
and congratulate her on being alert and aware of her surroundings to notice suspicious
activity happening in her neighborhood and thank her for helping to keep the community
safe.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Thursday, April Thirtieth, Two Thousand and Fifteen.
