HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Andhra Festival Proclamation - PDF - 10.21.2015TROCLAWATIOiX WHEREAS, on Saturday, October Twenty -Fourth, Two Thousand and Fifteen, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Annual Andhra Cultural Festival; and WHEREAS, the Andhra Cultural Festival is the yearly flagship show of SiliconAndhra, a non-profit organization, with the goal to preserve and perpetuate the ancient Telugu culture, literature and tradition; and WHEREAS, apart from contributing to the Information Technology revolution in the Silicon Valley, the organization has taken up the unique task of showcasing the Andhra (Indian) culture and tradition, seamlessly integrating it with the mainstream U.S. culture in Silicon Valley; and WHEREAS, in the last seven years, SiliconAndhra has created four Guinness Book world records in dance and music; and WHEREAS, the ever growing recognition of SiliconAndhra has earned it many patrons and an expected attendance of over two thousand, two hundred Indians at the Cultural festival. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the Andhra Cufturaf FestivaC and commend the commitment of SiliconAndhra to enrich Cupertino's diverse cultural heritage and for promoting an understanding of Indian culture. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, October Twenty -Fourth, Two Thousand and Fifteen.
