WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino wishes to acknowledge the outstanding
community service of the Tzu Chi Foundation; and
WHEREAS, devoted members of this non-profit charitable organization offer an
inspiring example of compassionate giving through volunteer
service as gleaners every week at the Cupertino Farmers Market,
where they collect fresh produce for West Valley Community
Services clients; and
WHEREAS, in 2014, members of Tzu Chi gathered 40,000 pounds of fruits and
vegetables from local growers, who have been donating their
surplus produce to the volunteers since 2007; and
WHEREAS, the Tzu Chi group also picks up bread from local bakeries and
delivers it to the needy – a project that has expanded to 11 cities –
and members regularly visit and entertain rehabilitating patients in
Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, with kindness and compassion, Foundation volunteers continually
seek ways to carry out a mission grounded in love, charity and
humanity.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby
commend and recognize the
Tzu Chi Foundation
for its members’ hard work and commitment toward building a stronger and better
community within the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Twenty-Eighth day of May, Two Thousand and Fifteen.
