WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino wishes to acknowledge the dedicated service
of Cathey Edwards; and
WHEREAS, when the Faith in Action Rotating Shelter closed down in 2010, she
found the time and energy to re-create the program, which benefits
homeless men in the community, and worked tirelessly to establish
it as an independent nonprofit that is open every day of the year;
and
WHEREAS, her devotion to the shelter program is clearly demonstrated by
more than 1,200 hours of service, which she contributed during the
year 2014 as the project’s volunteer executive director; and
WHEREAS, Cathey opens a door to a unique opportunity for Cupertino
religious and service organizations, residents and businesses to
assist and support local men in need of a helping hand; and
WHEREAS, she generously shares her expertise, enthusiasm and compassion
while bringing together a range of different groups for a common
cause.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby
commend and recognize
Cathey Edwards
for her dedicated work and commitment toward building a stronger and better
community within the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Twenty-Eighth day of May, Two Thousand and Fifteen.
