HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Vox Nativa 2016 Proclamation - Word - 07.28.2016PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Vox Nativa Children’s Choir from Taiwan is performing on July Thirtieth, Two Thousand and Sixteen; and WHEREAS, the Wisdom Culture Education Organization (WCEO) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote Chinese culture to children in the Bay Area; and WHEREAS, Vox Nativa was founded in 2008 as a nonprofit special weekend music school in the Nantou province of Taiwan; and WHEREAS, Vox Nativa’s main objective is to achieve social reform within the poverty- stricken aboriginal populations and communities of Taiwan through cultivation of gifted children and to preserve and promote culture, pride, and identity through a children’s choir group; and WHEREAS, the children, aged 7 to 16 attend the enhancement school on weekends learning math, reading, science, English and music as well as performing in the choir; and WHEREAS, Vox Nativa’s performances have won numerous awards in competition and have been honored in Taiwan’s 2009 Golden Melody Awards (the equivalent to the Grammy Awards), they released their first fundraising CD album that same year, and they were invited to perform in Expo 2010 held in Shanghai, China; and WHEREAS, the Vox Nativa Children’s Choir returns to the United States for the Gratitude Tour 2016. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the Vox Nativa Children’s Choir and congratulate them on their performances in the United States. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, July Thirtieth, Two Thousand and Sixteen. Barry Chang, Mayor
