WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize John Anthony Mein, a
member of Boy Scouts of America, for successfully completing all requirements
for the rank of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America teaches principles upon which our nation
was founded - honesty, ethics, personal responsibility, citizenship, patriotism and
respect for one’s fellow man; and
WHEREAS, one of the major objectives of an Eagle Scout is to develop citizenship
through involvement in a community service project where he determines a
problem to solve for his community and finds a solution to address that problem;
and
WHEREAS, we wish to commend John for his Eagle service project, where he built
and installed redwood benches for Monta Vista High School; and
WHEREAS, John’s achievement shows leadership ability in planning, budgeting,
project management and teamwork in order to determine a need to address,
obtain materials and volunteers to complete tasks and see the project through to
fruition.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do
hereby commend and congratulate
John Anthony Mein
in honor of his achievement of earning the Eagle Scout rank, the highest rank
offered by Boy Scouts of America.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the
City of Cupertino to be affixed this Sunday, January Twenty-Ninth,
Two Thousand and Seventeen.
