HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Public Works Proclamation - pdf - 01.31.2018PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Wednesday, January Thirty-first, Two Thousand and Eighteen, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Public Works Department Stormwater Pollution Inspector Manny Barragan at the State of the City Address; and WHEREAS, on August Twenty-fourth, Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-three, Manny Barragan began his service to our community; and WHEREAS, over the past 44 years of dedicated service, Manny has worked on a multitude of Public Works projects such as constructing and maintaining streets, sidewalks, storm drains and parks; and WHEREAS, Manny’s remarkable dedication and consistent work ethic has earned him the deepest respect from his community and fellow employees; and WHEREAS, Manny’s vast knowledge of the City of Cupertino and its history which enhances his effectiveness in solving discharges that enter the underground stormwater system has made him an extremely valuable resource and mentor to Public Works Staff. NOW, therefore, the City of Cupertino wishes to congratulate and proclaim Manny Barragan as the longest serving employee of the City of Cupertino, and commend him for his many years of excellent service to our community. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Wednesday, January Thirty-first, Two Thousand and Eighteen. __________________________ Darcy Paul, Mayor PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Roger Lee joined the City of Cupertino as the Assistant Director of Public Works in 2008, with responsibilities including all operation and maintenance activities for the City, including: Street Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Tree and Right of Way Maintenance, Facility & Fleet Maintenance, and Environmental Services including storm water pollution prevention, garbage, recycling and organics collection; and WHEREAS, Roger Lee, as a long-term standing member of the Maintenance Superintendents Association and the American Public Works Association, has been nationally recognized for exemplifying excellence in fulfilling his duties, which have in the past included responsibility for a 240-mile street network, a 21 storm-drain lift station network, and a storm-water prevention program, where he supervised a staff of 40 individuals; and WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino has benefited from Roger Lee’s contributing in a significant manner to our city and community, from his high degree of competence and professionalism, and from his ongoing demonstration of a commitment to excellence. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby Proclaim their: Recognition of Roger Lee and applaud him for receiving the 2017 Jerry D. Scott Outstanding Superintendent of the Year Award from the Maintenance Superintendents Association.
