HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Ikebana Proclamations - pdf - 03.03.2018PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Mrs. Fusako “Seiga” Hoyrup, a principal instructor of the Wafu School of Ikebana and founder and president of the California chapter, has devoted over 50 years to studying and teaching Ikebana; and WHEREAS, she celebrates the 48th Anniversary of the establishment of the California Chapter, which has grown to nearly 200 members worldwide; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Hoyrup has been affiliated with the Wafu School of Ikebana since 1957 and has studied under the tutelage of the late Wafu School headmaster, Wafu Teshigahara before relocating to the United States; and WHEREAS, she holds a Shukan Degree in Ikebana, which is the highest achievement level in Wafu School and has taught and mentored hundreds of students during her fifty plus years of Ikebana teaching; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Hoyrup has been recognized with numerous awards by the City of Cupertino, Santa Clara County, California Legislature Assembly and the Fremont Union High School district. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize Mrs. Fusako “Seiga” Hoyrup as a dedicated teacher who instructs the next generation of students in the art of Ikebana to preserve this highly artistic art form and technical standards. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, March Third, Two Thousand and Eighteen. ________________________ Darcy Paul, Mayor PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Saturday, March Third, Two Thousand and Eighteen, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Wafu School of Ikebana and its exquisite art form that invokes a sense of peace and beauty to the viewer; and WHEREAS, this marks the 48th Anniversary for the California Chapter of the Wafu School of Ikebana; and WHEREAS, in celebration of the 48th Anniversary of the California Chapter, a delegation of well-known artists from Japan’s Wafu Ikebana School headquarters in Tokyo will be in attendance and participating in this year’s flower show exhibition; and WHEREAS, nearly one hundred and twenty artists will be presenting their art during the flower show and highly accomplished Wafu Ikebana artists will be presenting demonstrations of this eloquent art form, discussing materials and techniques being used; and WHEREAS, the founding for this chapter was in 1971 by Mrs. Fusako “Seiga” Hoyrup of Cupertino and under her direction and training, the California chapter has grown from a small group of students to nearly 170 dedicated and artistically accomplished members. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the Wafu School of Ikebana in celebration of its 48th Anniversary and recognize the dedicated teachers who instruct the next generation of students in the art of Ikebana to preserve this highly artistic art form.
