Proclamation
WHEREAS, National Preparedness Month occurs annually in September since
the attacks of September 11th, and creates an ideal opportunity for
every resident of the City of Cupertino to join citizens across the
United States in preparing their homes, businesses, and
communities for any type of emergency, including natural
disasters such as earthquakes, wildfires, floods, and other large
scale emergencies we cannot predict; and
WHEREAS,
National Preparedness Month theme of “Prepared, Not Scared. Be
Ready for Disasters.”; and
WHEREAS,
community recovery from disasters, the chance of survival and
return to normalcy following a disaster; and
WHEREAS,
disasters and encourage their family and friends to so do so by
participating in neighborhood preparedness activities and
registering their contact information in the AlertSCC mass
notification system; and
THEREFORE,
hereby proclaim September 2019 as
National Preparedness Month
in the City of Cupertino, and call on all government agencies, private organizations, and
the people and businesses of the City of Cupertino to develop their own emergency
preparedness plan, and work together toward creating a stronger, more resilient
community.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, September Third, Two Thousand and Nineteen.
