HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Lung Cancer Awareness Month Proclamation WHEREAS, Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States and in California each year; and WHEREAS, approximately 3,300 new lung and bronchus cancers are diagnosed a year in the Bay Area; and WHEREAS, as lung cancer screening, but have not yet been embraced as the standard of care, and early detection of lung cancer can dramatically improve survival rates; and WHEREAS, research of other cancers; and WHEREAS, American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative (ALCSI), are committed to educating and advocating for greater lung cancer and lung cancer screening awareness; and THEREFORE, hereby proclaim November as Lung Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Cupertino, and encourage all citizens to learn about early detection practices, and educational resources provided to those who are affected by this disease in order to better maintain and assist our citizens in leading healthy, long lives. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, November Nineteenth, Two Thousand and Nineteen. ____________________________ Steven M.
