Proclamation
WHEREAS, Autism, the fastest growing developmental disorder in America,
has been identified in over 3 million Americans including
approximately 1 in 59 children, and is characterized by affecting
social, communication, and behavioral skills; and
WHEREAS,
training, and community support, individuals with autism can
lead happy, productive lives, and strive to reach their fullest
potential; and,
WHEREAS,
necessary to ensure that individuals are accurately diagnosed, to
support programs that serve them and their families, and to
promote acceptance; and
WHEREAS,
observance of Autism Awareness Month to highlight the growing
need for public education in the hope that it will lead to a better
understanding of the disorder; and
THEREFORE,
hereby proclaim the month of April 2019 as
Autism Awareness Month
in the City of Cupertino, and encourage all citizens to raise public awareness of issues
surrounding autism, and increase knowledge of the programs developed and being
developed to support individuals with autism.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, April Sixteenth, Two Thousand and Nineteen.

various media; and
WHEREAS,
source of inspiration for children with autism and their families all
over the world.
