Proclamation
WHEREAS, Mrs. Fusako “Seiga” Hoyrup, a principal instructor of the Wafu
School of Ikebana and founder and president of the California
chapter, has devoted over 50 years to studying and teaching
Ikebana; and
WHEREAS, th
California Chapter, which has grown to nearly 200 members
worldwide; and
WHEREAS,
since 1957 and has studied under the tutelage of the late Wafu
School headmaster, Wafu Teshigahara, before relocating to the
United States; and
WHEREAS,
achievement level in Wafu School, and has taught and mentored
thousands of students during her fifty plus years of Ikebana
teaching; and
WHEREAS,
culture worldwide through Ikebana, Mrs. Fusako “Seiga” Hoyrup
is a recipient of the 2019 Spring Conferment of Japanese
Decorations and received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and
Silver Rays from the Emperor of Japan; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Cupertino, Santa Clara County, California Legislature
Assembly, and the Fremont Union High School District; and
THEREFORE,
hereby recognize
Mrs. Fusako “Seiga” Hoyrup
as a dedicated teacher who instructs the next generation of students in the art of Ikebana to
preserve this highly artistic art form and technical standards.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, March Seventh, Two Thousand and Twenty.

Proclamation
WHEREAS, On Saturday and Sunday, March Seventh and Eighth, Two
Thousand and Twenty, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize
the Wafu School of Ikebana and its exquisite art form that invokes
a sense of peace and beauty to the viewer; and
WHEREAS, th
Wafu School of Ikebana; and
WHEREAS, th
delegation of well-known artists from Japan’s Wafu Ikebana
School headquarters in Tokyo will be in attendance and
participating in this year’s flower show exhibition; and
WHEREAS,
during the flower show and highly accomplished Wafu Ikebana
artists will be presenting demonstrations of this eloquent art form,
discussing materials and techniques being used; and
WHEREAS,
Hoyrup of Cupertino and under her direction and training, the
California chapter has grown from a small group of students to
nearly 170 dedicated and artistically accomplished members.
THEREFORE,
hereby recognize the
Wafu School of Ikebana
in celebration of its 50th Anniversary and recognize the dedicated teachers who instruct the
next generation of students in the art of Ikebana to preserve this highly artistic art form.
