Proclamation
WHEREAS, The City of Cupertino wishes to celebrate our local small
businesses and the contributions they make to our local economy
and community;
WHEREAS,
there are 31.7 million small businesses in the U.S. and they are
responsible for 65.1% of net new jobs created from 2000 to 2019;
WHEREAS,
private sector in the U.S., 88% of U.S. consumers feel a personal
commitment to support small businesses in the wake of the
pandemic, and 92% of small business owners have had to adjust
their business significantly to stay open during this pandemic;
WHEREAS,
local businesses, and during the difficult time of the Covid-19
pandemic, we greatly encourage our community to take an active
role in helping, by online or in-person patronage of local small
businesses, and by sharing your support on social media with
friends and family members; and
WHEREAS,
jobs, boost our economy, and offer a variety of goods and services
for the community to enjoy.
THEREFORE, I, Mayor Darcy Paul, and the Cupertino City Council do hereby
Proclaim November 27, 2021 as:
Small Business Saturday
in the City of Cupertino, and we urge the community to support our local small businesses
on Small Business Saturday and throughout the year.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, November 16, 2021.
